Preparing for Purim

Hamantashen Biscotti

(if you think the Italian "biscotti" sounds strange with the Jewish "Hamantashen" just read on for clarity)

Madelyn and I had fun baking this morning making Hamantashen. She did most of the work while I read the recipe and got the ingredients together. We used this recipe.

She was so proud of herself for cracking all the eggs.

My little girl is growing up so fast.

She even used my new mixer from our neighbor, Jen.
Jen is such a sweetheart. She invites Madelyn to come bake with her. You'll see why this is important in the next photo.

After fighting our way through rolling the dough, what do we find...the butter! Oops. Baking has never been my gift.
Hence, the Hamantashen Biscotti we served for Purim. Everyone liked it just fine.

You may be wondering what the boys were doing to prepare for Purim. We found them on the internet watching Steve Martin singing King Tut. I was confused...
is Esther at the same time as King Tut?
Nope. Here's the timeline.
King Tut was in 1333 BC
while Esther was in 480 BC.

They were just boys having fun. Although Jim now explains that when Jimmy decided to be the king for Purim, Jim said, "You'll be a boy king, just like King Tut." So, I guess it is educational in a strange warped sort of way.
I have to add that my darling hubby
cleaned all the bathrooms
and vacuumed the floors before he started having fun. You can have fun too, dancing is optional.
