(Not my Iris flower bed. Wish it was!)
I've been weeding and digging in the dirt getting this ready for my Iris plants.
I already have some established bearded Iris plants along one edge. My plan is to cover this bare dirt area with all colors af Iris! Today I was in search of some Iris tubers at the nursery up the road about 2 miles from our house. So I headed down Timber Hill.
Out to the main road towards the nursery. It is a beautiful day to be out and about! The grape vines are still bare, but the wild mustard covers the fields everywhere you look.
Here we are at one of my favorite hang outs that isn't a fabric store!
Empire Nursery.
Once you get past these two, your in the land of Flower Oz. Just follow the brick path!
I was tempted by this Bleeding Heart!
And mesmerized by the Koi.
Big disappointment. The only Iris tubers available now are Iris Sibirica. Bloom Time: Mid Summer. Height 28 to 36 inches. Not a bearded Iris, but very pretty. I bought this one. "Butter & Sugar". I think it was the name! Yum!
There were a few other bulbs and tubers to buy.
I learned that the the actual Bearded Iris tubers I'm looking for won't be available to purchase until August! (sigh) ---and plants in one gallon containers with the showy flowers won't be available until June. (sigh) Now I have to think about what to do with the bare dirt I had planned to cover with beautiful Iris.
Maybe I could get some of these cute little Gnomes to do the weeding while I wait for Iris!
Iris Sibirica and I headed home.
