Figuratively Speaking

Hello, all.

I have had reservations about putting my figurative studies on the blog. I am no James Jean, by any means, but a good friend reminded me that one of the advantages of a blog is to discuss issues and shortcomings.

So, without further hesitation, I am placing a couple of images from class. The first image is from our warm ups during classes at the Cultural Center in Greensboro, NC. This is a two minute drawing with conte' crayon.

The next image is from a longer pose, for ten minutes. More conte' crayon with pastel for highlights.

I seem to do a better job with the figure with shorter poses. I think too much with longer studies. The goal, therefore, is to transfer the energy and power of the short pose to a longer pose that has accurate proportions. I seem to loose that energy.
Eventually, I would like to post an image a week, admist my attempts at illustration.
Have a great week.
Peace!
