Mmmuffins
Where I grew up in Canada there's a muffin chain called Mmmuffins. Its muffins aren't actually all that good (you know the kind that are more cakey than quickbreadish?) but I love the name just the same.
Unlike the mmmuffins, these Buttermilk Oatmeal Muffins that I made on Sunday morning were seriously mmmmm. I wanted to make something with oatmeal for my marathon-training boyfriend, because it's good "runner's food", as he would say, and I am nice like that.
But I didn't have a copy of my favourite recipe in the house. So I did my usual quick search of Allrecipes and came up with this offering. I am a fan of buttermilk in anything, so I was sold. (Except that I didn't have any buttermilk, so I used a combination of half sour cream and half milk instead. Whatever. That's not the point.)
The muffins turned out moist and not too sweet and I gobbled them up in three breakfasts. (Aforementioned boyfriend only got one.)
I usually have tremendous success with any Allrecipes recipe which has been highly rated by the website community. If you've never tried the site, I urge you to navigate there now! It's a massive collection of recipes contributed by home cooks all over the world and it has a refreshing snob-free factor.
